Tour Itinerary
An 8-hour south west tour trip with a professional driver guide that will make you discover a wild landscape throughout your journey. After your pick up as per your requested date and time, your first stop will be at Trou Aux Cerfs volcano which had last erupted about 700,000 years ago. The dormant volcano is situated about 1 km from the town of Curepipe and is about 605 meters above sea level, due to its high altitude it has become one of the most famous tourist attraction in Mauritius where you can get an amazing view of the Trois Mamelles Mountain, the Port Louis moka range as well as the town of curepipe and its surrounding areas
You will then go to visit the ship models factory located in the town of Curepipe-floreal, to learn about the production of Mauritian ship models, carefully handcrafted by local artisans.it is a wonderful and unique gift to bring back home as a souvenir.
Next you will pass by the largest reservoir on the island known as “Mare aux Vacoas” built in the year 1885 and having a capacity of about 26 million cubic meters makes it sufficient to supply water to a quarter of our population.
To learn about the Hindu culture your driver will drive you to Grand Bassin(Ganga Talao) which is a pilgrimage site for the Mauritian Hindu, it was formed after the once active volcano died out many years ago, The Ganga Talao consist of a sacred lake filled with Ganges water brought from India, behind the lake there is a huge statue of the Hindu god Shiva of about 108 feet high , it is bronze in color and wrapped around his neck is his famous cobra “Vasuki” which represent fearlessness and power.
Your next stop will be at the Black river gorges and the Alexandra fall where you will discover endangered species of different plant and animals and get an outstanding view of the valleys which is a one-time life experience.
Before doing the Chamarel 7th colored earth your driver can proposed some nice authentic restaurants along the way. After lunch you go for the most awaiting moment which is to discover the 7th color soil, it is a rare geological oddity that proves brown is far from the only color of dirt. You will end your tour by visiting the chamarel waterfall which have a height of about 100 meter making it the highest waterfall in Mauritius, it is found in the same vicinity of chamarel.

Can I choose my own time for the tour?
Normally for the south west tour we pick you up from your hotel at 9am, but since this is a private tour you can choose your own time.
